Last fishing day at the Amur river. Hooray, fellas! I got it. Mandarin fish or Chinese perch. Lat. Siniperca chuatsi. Seriously, on the last day. Again, right from under the grass. And the places where it usually lives — rocks, cliffs, bottom structures, etc. weren’t works at all. By the way, this is the streamer by Leader. Awesome lure. The expedition was a success, friends! Of course, the list is missing Amur pike, snakehead, and yellowcheek. Pike are almost all in the tributaries at the moment; it’s too hot for them. Snakehead are in the bays, and it’s better to go to Khanka for them. And yellowcheek—that’s for next time, that’s a whole other story. #mefik #fishing #рыбалка #pesca #mandarin — from Instagram

Fishing Amur river, day fourth. Now that was a complete surprise! It was a European zander, weighing in at 6.2 kg. A new record, indeed. I managed to land him pretty quickly, set the hook as hard as usual, and he spat the bait right out of the net. Still no luck with the Mandarin fish. Everyone in my team already caught it. And there’s only one more day left… By the way, another fish got away this morning, a much larger one. I thought it was a snag, but it just started moving toward me and apparently didn’t catch it. Either a catfish or a zander. #mefik #fishing #рыбалка #pesca #zander — from Instagram

Fishing Amur river, new specie lands! Mongolian Redfin. Lat. Chanodichthys mongolicus. It looks similar to the Redfin found on Sakhalin, but they’re different species, the other one being a “pseudo asp.” What can I say? It hits like crazy, give up the rod! Like a small tuna is attacking. This one is huge, weighing 1.5kg. Can say it’s a trophy; they actually grow up to four kilo. #mefik #fishing #рыбалка #pesca #redfin — from Instagram

Today third fishing day at the Amur river and we were up against the Mandarin fish. Dima, the guide, caught a monster right from under the grass!!! I’ve got skygazer and zander… I’m not upset, even though I’m getting tense. Almost everyone on the team caught at least a small Manarin. The weather is unstable, sometimes it’s hot, sometimes it rains, the water level is still rising, but the fish are biting, which is generally good. The guys say the bite is bad, but for me it’s fine: there are bites, and the fish are too. #mefik #fishing #рыбалка #pesca #mandarin — from Instagram

Wow! First evening Amur river fishing! And a new PB for Walleye. 3.1 kg!!! Although this isn’t Zander, like European pike-perch, it’s an American one, a whitefin or lightfin! Lat. Sander vitreus. I don’t have this species in my collection yet. It’s distinguished by its white lower fins, while the European pike-perch has a slightly white lower caudal fin at the tip. This is an invasive species for the Amur River. Removal of any length is highly recommended. Where did it come from? During the latest flood, it escaped from cages in China and has proliferated. #mefik #fishing #рыбалка #pesca #walleye — from Instagram

Sup fellas! The long-awaited fishing expedition to Khabarovsk, to the Amur River, is starting. My main target is the Mandarin Fish or Chinese Perch, as strange as that may sound. Yellowcheeks are certainly welcome, but they’ve already been caught in Vietnam, and I haven’t caught the Mandarin Fish yet. #mefik #fishing #рыбалка #pesca #amurriver — from Instagram
